Frequently Asked Questions
Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions whether it’s your first time or you’ve had support before. This page is here to offer clear, honest answers about how I work, what to expect, and anything else that might be on your mind. If you don’t see your question here, you’re always welcome to get in touch.
How much does it cost?
All appointments are £60 per hour.
If you have any questions about fees, please feel free to ask when we speak.
How many sessions will I need?
This really varies from person to person.
Some people come for a short, focused block of sessions to work through a specific issue, while others choose to continue for longer as we explore things more deeply.
Weekly or fortnightly sessions tend to work best initially, as this allows us to build momentum and continuity in our work together. However, I understand that finances and life commitments can sometimes make this difficult, so we can always discuss what works best for you.
Is online or in-person therapy better?
This really depends on what feels most comfortable for you.
Some people appreciate the convenience and accessibility of online sessions, as they can connect from home or wherever they feel most at ease.
Others prefer the experience of coming to my cosy garden cabin, where they can step away from everyday life and have a dedicated space to focus on themselves.
And remember, what’s shared in the cabin stays in the cabin. That’s a promise (unless there’s a safeguarding issue).
Online sessions are held via WhatsApp video call or Google Meet.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be helpful if you're feeling stuck or unsure how to navigate certain challenges.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Sometimes people come simply because they want a safe space to talk and better understand themselves.
If you're feeling curious about therapy, that’s often a good starting point.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is really about getting to know each other.
We’ll talk about what has brought you to therapy, explore some of the main themes or challenges you’re experiencing, and discuss how we might work together.
We’ll also cover practical details such as confidentiality and how sessions work.
And there’s no expectation for you to share your deepest thoughts straight away. Building trust takes time, and we will go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Therapeutic Approaches
Alongside talking therapy, I may also draw on additional therapeutic approaches where appropriate.
Rewind Therapy
Rewind therapy, also known as The Rewind Technique, is a gentle and effective approach often used to help people process traumatic or distressing memories. Perhaps you have a phobia holding you back, or a traumatic experience that’s always on your mind. The technique works by helping your brain safely reprocess memories so they no longer carry the same emotional intensity, allowing you to move forward and be more in control. The best part is that you don’t need to share any of the details of your trauma with me, unless you want to.
EFT Tapping
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), often referred to as Tapping, is a therapeutic approach that combines elements of psychology with gentle tapping on specific points of the body. Many people find it helpful for reducing anxiety, stress and emotional overwhelm. EFT can help the nervous system settle more quickly and can be a powerful tool for improving emotional regulation, helping you feel more balanced and grounded.
